Construction and Geotechnics

Geotextile (GTX) is a non-woven, textured or braided and planar, permeable, polymeric (synthetic or natural) textile material used in contact with soil and / or other materials in geotechnical and civil engineering applications. (EN ISO 10318-1)

They are divided into 3 parts as Non-Braided (GTX-NW), Textured (GTX-K) and Braided (GTX-W). Geotextile felt is in the first group, nonwoven geotextile.

In the construction industry;

-In roof thermal insulation: It is laid on the thermal insulation due to its high puncture resistance and protects the materials under it from impact.
-In waterproofing protection: There is a high risk of perforation of the insulation material with the effect of pressure on building foundations. Geotextile should be used as pressure spreading effect. It allows the insulation to work freely in the movements in the building. It prevents the risk of tearing and damage due to puncture and excessive friction. It acts as a protection under and above the geomembrane.
